About Us

Beit Knesset Ohel Yonah Menahem (OYM) is a Religious Zionist congregation in the Givat Sharet neighborhood of Beit Shemesh.   Its 300 members include many Olim, many of which are from English speaking countries.  In addition to its daily minyanim, OYM features vibrant Torah learning, with many shiurim by its esteemed Rav, Harav Mayer Lichtenstein, as well as shiurim delivered by rabbanim and teachers from our kehilla.

OYM has an active membership which helps to sponsor and produce many activities for its members and for the larger community.   The cohesiveness of the shul, including its youth, is an important goal, and this is evident in its cherished traditions, such as the annual Yom Hazikaron/Yom Haatzmaut ceremony, annual kiddushim in honor of our new first graders and high school graduates, and communal seudot shlishit to commemorate important milestones.

We daven in a large and beautiful sanctuary and have a modern social hall.  We are always eager to welcome guests and new members.

HaRav David Avraham Spektor, zt”l

For fifteen years until his untimely passing the 12th of Tishrei  5774 (September 16, 2013) Harav David Avraham Spektor was the spiritual leader of our kehilla. He was also a respected educator, posek and author. We remember him most for his gentle smile, his modest and unassuming manner, his teaching of Torah and his passionate messages of love for Clal Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael.
